How a 3-Year Comprehensive Fundraising Plan Transformed an International NPO
Generis was hired to help a small international NPO that works with disadvantaged children in Kenya. Giving had been stagnant for the last three years, and little infrastructure existed to support fundraising efforts - no full-time staff, no easy way to give online, and no clear communication to support any recurring giving.
Over an 18 month period, Generis consultants developed a comprehensive plan including the following recommendations.
- Developed a fundraising and communications plan for the next three years, including all direct mail appeals and fundraising events
- Established CRM system and integrated it with the organization's financial/communication software
- Recommended the hire, writing the job description
- Established portfolios for both the Major Gifts Officer and the Executive Director
- Provided extensive, bi-weekly coaching on solicitation strategies, donor communication, and year-end campaigns.

About The Organization
A Christian child-development organization whose mission is to rescue, restore, and empower vulnerable children in Kenya through family-based, Christ-centered care. Founded in 1989 when a Kenyan entrepreneur sold his businesses to answer God’s call, the organization first responded to Nairobi’s street children.
Since then, for 35 years across campuses in Kenya, the organization has welcomed 26,000 children into a growing family, providing shelter, education, healthcare, and spiritual formation. Today its work includes child rescue, sustainable agriculture, clean water, disaster relief, and community empowerment.
