Derek has over 35 years of experience leading in ministry and business environments. Specifically, he has served dozens of churches over the past decade, helping them disciple their people to greater levels of generosity and coaching them to raise millions of dollars for Kingdom initiatives.

Prior to joining Generis, Derek served as Sr VP at Pursuant/RSI, a nonprofit fundraising agency in Dallas, with his primary focus on the development and implementation of ministry-funding solutions for churches. He also has over 13 years' experience serving in executive leadership roles in a metro church plant and in a large multisite context, and for nearly 14 years held numerous leadership positions at a Fortune 500 retail company. Derek's unique combination of business and church leadership experience fuels his passion to see churches realize their full potential through the shepherding of their people, and the stewarding of their resources.

Derek has traveled extensively around the world in partnership with the local church and mission agencies, focused on disciple-making, community-focused ministries, church-planting, and abandoned children.

Derek and his wife Ronda, have four adult children. They have called the Nashville area home now for over 25 years. They are actively involved at their church in Nashville. Derek currently serves on the board of a humanitarian nonprofit to Haiti. He earned an M.A. in Church Leadership from Southern Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. For fun he spends time with his grandkids and is a black belt in Krav Maga.
